Cape Ogon Seaside Park
The sun setting over the Sea of Japan seen from the seashore here has been selected as one of the g100 Best Sunsets in Japan.h The view, which enchants visitors to Rumoi, can even be said to be the best sunset in Japan. Small beach crabs can be found in and around the park. And in summer, people flock there to catch them.
Reuke Ranch (Chikusan-kan)
With rows of large wind turbines, this area, which affords views of the Sea of Japan and Mt. Shokan-dake, is known as the ghill with visible wind.h Adjacent to the ranch is Chikusan-kan, a rest house where visitors can enjoy locally produced barbequed food as well as other original dishes.
Senbodai (Sunset Senbodai)
This scenic spot commands a panoramic view of Rumoi Port and the cityscapes. The spot also affords views of the magnificent mountains of the quasi-national park on the northern horizon and is an excellent place to enjoy evening and nighttime scenery. Visitors can also enjoy meals in the casual surroundings of Sunset Senbodai.
Uniquely-designed lighthouse gHato no Hito (woman with a maritime light)h
This lighthouse is made of bronze, which is extremely rare throughout the world. The statue of the goddess of maritime safety is the symbol of the port of Rumoi, where the cityfs dynamic image is created by the sea, waves, wind, sunset and harbor.

Recommended Spot

Rumoi is a harbor city that once thrived on large catches of herring. Cape Ogon, the site on which such large catches were landed, affords views of the best sunset in Japan, especially the splendid evening scene of the seashore, where a row of peculiar-shaped rocks are vividly colored by the setting sun. The expressions created by the rich natural environment, including the mysterious kearashi mist on the sea in mid-winter, and roaring waves that are said to be in the worldfs top three, will provide visitors with everlasting memories. From spring to the year end, the gUmaiyo! Rumoi Ichi (Delicious! Rumoi Market)h is held at Rumoi Port on the theme of food of the four seasons, offering delicious seafood, processed food and dishes at low prices. Please come to Rumoi and appreciate the seasonal blessings of the abundant nature.
